Hi, I'm the Accompanist for the Lehigh Valley Gay Men's Chorus, and was wondering if you could publish our upcoming concerts this Saturday (November 17th) 8 pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bethlehem, and Sunday November 18th at 8pm in the Grace Episcopal Church in Allentown. We appreciate any plug you could give us. We are also seeking donations for our Silent Auctions as well as general donations.

I live down the street from Balasia and eat there at least once a week. It's pretty much the greatest restaurant I've ever been to.

Have you visited "cottage" in Emmaus? It's across the street from Elephants Trunk, and the most adorable little store you could ever hope for. And Jim Thorpe is a great place to visit indeed, especially if you want some killer vintage jewelry for extraordinarily reasonable prices. Also "Through the Looking Glass" in JT is a really cool little restaurant, set in an old house, like Balasia, but with crazier furniture :)

I was inspired by your suggestions and headed out to Emmaus a few days ago--the Elephant's Trunk totally rocks, though I was sadly unable to find anything purchase-worthy (because all the enviable mid-century modern goodies had already been scooped up by *someone*?). I did, however, score a fabulous pair of Camper mary janes for a ridiculously low price at the adjacent consignment shop (which I regret to say is called "Once is Not Enuff") and enjoyed the Torreo coffee at Mas Cafe, so it was a good time nonetheless--thanks for the excursion idea! If you're looking for suggestions for future outings, I'm under the impression that Kutztown has a similar vibe to Emmaus--cafes and eclectic shops. Really, it's more than just the Folk Festival...
Also, Jim Thorpe might be a worthwhile destination-- it's just north of the LV and is an interesting confluence of "Deliverance"-style culture and yuppie scum-dom which manages to be fun for an afternoon (they have a killer diner there with great pierogies AND this crazy-pants occult/queer/pagan shop to which words can't even do justice). There's also a gigundo Salvation Army just outside town which promises to be fabulous (sadly, I couldn't convince my girlfriend to go in so I can't say for certain). Good times!
